York South Silver Knights Basketball – Richmond Hill Markham York Region Unionville Club prides itself in offering a superior level of skill development at all program levels. All our programs, including our house leagues, are directed and coached by certified OBA instructors.

No parental volunteers are involved in coaching our house league teams, as we hire select passionate Sr. High school rep players and university students to coach our teams.

This developmental grassroots instructional program is intended to bring the “joy of basketball” to our youngest boy and girl basketeers from junior kindergarten to grade 2. OBA certified coaches direct our school in order that fundamentals are taught in a sequential progression to each individual child while maintaining a fun and exciting atmosphere.

A high instructor to participant ratio is present in order to maintain excellence.

All of our Novice to High School House Leagues are comprised of 45 minutes of direct basketball instruction, followed by a house league game. It is in this manner that participants who have never played the game in a semi-competitive atmosphere are exposed to the correct manner and foundation skills in which to play this wonderful game called basketball. Each season culminates with a championship tournament, where trophies and awards are given.

Each player may only benefit from one of the two Silver Knights Promotions (A) or (B), NOT both promotions.  Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

(A)  “Double Your Fun” Promotion – Why Not “Play in Two Leagues”?  ($150 DISCOUNT)
Register your child to play in both the Saturday league at St. Theresa  (Novice/Atom/Bantam Boys League only on Saturdays) and one of our two Sunday Leagues (St.Theresa or Markville Location) and receive a $150 discount.  Double the training and double the games at a great price!

(B)  “Find a NEW Friend to Join a Sunday League” Promotion  ($50 DISCOUNT)
Get a new friend who has never played in a Silver Knights program before to register and pay full price for one of our Sunday Leagues (Markville, McGivney or St. Theresa locations on Sundays only) and your son receives a $50 discount on his Sunday League registration fee.  (Sunday Leagues include:  Novice Boys, Atom Boys, Bantam Boys, Junior Girls, Intermediate Girls, and 3-on-3 Leagues for Girls only).  Note:  This new friend must register and pay full price within one week of your child’s online registration for this discount to apply.

*** No Friend Requests (including for the purpose of carpooling) – High School Leagues: The MANDATORY assessment sessions will take place on Sunday September 29 and Sunday October 6 (your son’s assessment time will be based on the e-mail to be sent out by our Registrar by Thursday September 26, 2024.  After that, playing times vary each week as per charts above).  Teams will be formed after the assessment sessions and the playing schedule will be e-mailed before session three of the each high school house league.  All teams will play at a different time each week based on the schedule.

IMPORTANT: In order to have a competitive basketball leagues, we are NOT able to accept any requests for friends to play on the same team. All individual players are expected to obtain transportation to the games every weekend. Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

Notes:

  1.  We do NOT pro-rate the fee for missed sessions, even for players joining the program late.
  2. “Friend requests” will NOT be allowed for any of our programs, and will NOT be considered when creating teams.  No exceptions.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Tiny & Mini Knights Basketball School Objectives:

  • Introduce primary aged pupils to key basketball skills while having fun
  • Promote sense of accomplishment
  • Support motivated players to pursue higher levels of competition
  • Build a new organization from the true grass roots level

Each action packed positive learning session lasts one hour in length, and includes:

  • Warm-up
  • Direct instruction
  • Whole group and small group activities
  • Perhaps a short modified basketball game at the end

It is through such fun activities that introductory foundation skills are established and reinforced, and our children start to see the benefits of:

  • Exercise
  • Team work
  • Self-discipline
  • The happiness that comes from success

Former Member Uniform Discount

$25 FORMER MEMBER UNIFORM DISCOUNT – ONLY FOR PLAYERS WHO WILL REUSE BOTH THEIR BASKETBALL AND UNIFORM FROM A PREVIOUS HOUSE LEAGUE SESSION, NOT A CAMP (REMEMBER, OUR “HOOPSTERS” GROW AND UNIFORMS MAY NO LONGER FIT!)

NOTE – THE UNIFORM FOR NOVICE BOYS (GRADE 3/4) IS  NOT THE SAME AS THE TINY/MINI KNIGHTS BOYS UNIFORM.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • Refunds/Cancellations will only be accepted if notified in writing to the Registrar by e-mail (ysskprograms@silverknightsbasketball.com), on or before the Sunday immediately preceding the program’s start date.
  • NO REFUNDS will be given starting the Monday immediately before the program’s start date.  No Exceptions.
  • No verbal communication of cancellation will be accepted.
  • All refund requests are subject to a $50 administration cost.
  • Dishonoured payments will incur a $40 service charge.
