Any Rep and Elite/Experienced league players wishing to continue working on improving their individual skills during March Break now have the chance to take part in a unique training opportunity. Silver Knights Basketball Club will be holding a week-long camp featuring skills clinics, transition drills, small-sided games, game situation drills and tournament play (Monday March 11 to Friday March 15).
The program has been developed by YSSK Head Coach Tom Oliveri, former head coach of the York University Lions Men’s team, Team Ontario, and a certified Master Coach. Coach Oliveri brings his years of experience as a coach and instructor to his clinics, with a particular focus on ball handling, shooting, defence and teamwork fundamentals.
Anthony Atletico, Coach Oliveri’s assistant at York University from 2014-2017, will be delivering the program. Coach Atletico is a Level 3 certified basketball coach. He has also coached with Canada Basketball’s Junior Academy and with Ontario Basketball’s Centre for Performance. He holds a master’s degree in education and is currently a high school teacher. He has worked at the club level as an assistant with the North Toronto Huskies JUEL team, winning a championship in 2012 and a bronze medal in 2011. Coach Atletico also has 10 years of coaching experience at the high school level, serving as the head coach at Bill Crothers, St. Elizabeth, St. Augustine, St. Theresa of Lisieux and currently St. Brother Andre coaching senior girls and junior boys. In that time Anthony has won multiple York Region championships coaching both boys and girls basketball.
