York South Silver Knights Basketball Club is excited to offer our Annual Summer Camps starting the last week of July 2026 and running to the second week of August 2026, instructed by our Silver Knights Director: Sam Bongiorno.

Parents and Guardians, don’t miss out on this opportunity to bring your basketball “hoopsters” to St. Theresa Of Lisieux CHS (230 Shaftsbury Ave, Richmond Hill) to develop their basketball skills in a fun environment for our annual 5-Day All Day “Fun & Fundamentals” Summer Camps 2026 (players entering grade 4 to grade 9 this September 2026, girls and boys).  Two camps will be run one from  July 27 to July 31, 2026 and a second opportunity from August 10 to 14, 2026.  No previous basketball experience is necessary for our grade 4 to 9 Fun & Fundamentals camps!!

We even have one week dedicated to a higher level of instruction with our 4-Day All Day “Rep & Elite” High Profile Summer Camp 2026 (August 4 to 7, 2026) at St. Theresa Of Lisieux CHS (230 Shaftsbury Ave, Richmond Hill) only for rep and elite players entering grade 5 to grade 11 this September 2026, girls and boys!!!  We encourage both our Silver Knights rep players and our elite house league players to attend in order to hone their skills during the summer, and prepare for the upcoming 2026-2027 rep basketball season.  Rep team tryouts typically take place in August and/or over two weekends in September, starting the weekend after Labour Day.

Our camps have a fun-filled agenda/itinerary prepared daily.

Note: All players will receive one Silver Knights reversible silver/purple summer camp jersey to be brought and worn daily.

Additional Details:
  1. All campers MUST wear daily their Silver Knights reversible silver/purple summer camp jersey (will be handed out the first day of the camp).
  2. All campers MUST bring their own appropriate sized basketball (labelled with their name on it).
    Grade 4-6: Size 27.5 ( size 5)
    Grade 7/8.: Size 28.5 (size 6) ( including high school girls)
    Grades 9 and up boys: NBA Size 29.5. (Size 7)
  3. Please wear indoor running shoes or basketball shoes and proper athletic attire.
  4. All campers MUST also pack a water bottle (labelled with their name on it), small towel, extra socks and an extra t-shirt.
  5. Lunch and snacks are not provided – campers must bring a NUT-FREE lunch and NUT-FREE snacks each day.
  6. No extended before or after care hours.
  7. Program starts at 9:00am sharp and ends at 3:20pm.
  8. Participates can arrive no earlier than 8:30am (supervision start time) and must be picked up no later than 3:30pm SHARP (no exceptions).
  9. Participants must commit to the entire camp week (no pro-rated days, no half days offered).

Coach Raoul Baumgartner

  • President and one of 3 founding Partners of York South Silver Knights Basketball Club (YSSK).
  • Retired Educator, with an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree, Bachelor of Education Degree, and Masters Degree in Language and Learning Disabilities.
  • Coached basketball at both the elementary school level and at the Rep Competitive Team level for 35+ years, winning 5 Board Championships and 10+ Area Championships for the YCDSB, plus placed 2nd in the Intermediate (grade 7/8) GTA Championships.
  • Successfully coached players who later obtained NCAA Division #1 Scholarships in the USA, and players who later played on the Canadian Jr. National Team and the Sr. National Team.
  • Level 3 NCCP Certified Technical Basketball Instructor with Ethics qualifications.
  • Mentored/facilitated YSSK camp counselors who later took on such roles as High Profile Elite Basketball Coaches or York Region Officials.
  • Father of two children, Ross and Bianca.  Ross is currently at U of Ottawa pursuing Computer Engineering.  He played 7 years of Rep Basketball with YSSK, and was a House League Coach. Bianca is currently attending the Athletic High School, Bill Crothers.  She is a shooting guard for her Silver Knights Rep Competitive Team.
  • Personal Philosophy: Always attempting to make a difference in every basketball player, and teach them all life-long lessons that go well beyond the game itself.
  • “It’s not the cards that you are given in life, but how you play them that matters.”

Refund/Cancellation Policy: Summer Camps

  • Refunds/Cancellations will only be accepted if notified in writing to the Registrar by e-mail (ysskprograms@silverknightsbasketball.com) one week prior to the summer camp’s start date.
  • For example, a written cancellation notice is due on or before Monday July 20, 2026 to cancel the summer camp starting on Monday July 27, 2026.
  • NO REFUNDS will be given starting the day after the above-mentioned date.  No exceptions!
  • No verbal communication of cancellation will be accepted.
  • All refund requests are subject to a $50 administration cost.
  • Dishonoured payments will incur a $40 service charge.
