The Silver Knights Basketball Club is excited to be able to resume our annual Winter Camps instructed by our Director of Silver Knights Camps: Coach Raoul Baumgartner (Markham “Fun & Fundamentals” Camp) and our Lead Instructor: Coach Joshua Mootoo (Richmond Hill “Elite High Profile” Camp).
- Markham – St. Augustine CHS – January 2 to 5, 2024 – “Fun & Fundamentals” 4-Day Co-ed Winter Camp (players currently in grade 4 to grade 9, girls and boys) – No previous basketball experience necessary!
- Richmond Hill – St. Theresa of Lisieux CHS – January 2 to 5, 2024 – “Elite High Profile” 4-Day Co-ed Winter Camp (players currently in grade 7 to grade 11, girls and boys) We encourage both our grade 7 and up Silver Knights rep players and our grade 7 and up elite house league players to attend, in order to hone their skills during the winter holiday break, and prepare for the current 2023-2024 rep or house league basketball seasons. A terrific holiday camp for high school players too (grade 9 to 11)!
Our camps have a fun-filled agenda/itinerary prepared daily.

Note: All players MUST bring their own Silver Knights reversible jersey from a current Silver Knights house league or rep team program to camp daily. A $30 charge must be added to the above program cost if your child does NOT already have the mandatory Silver Knights reversible jersey needed for the camp (to be distributed on the first camp day once you pay in advance for jersey at the time of on-line registration).
Additional Details:
- All campers MUST bring and wear daily their Silver Knights reversible jersey (if you paid the $30 for a new jersey at the time of winter camp registration, the jersey will distributed on day one).
- All campers MUST bring their own appropriate sized basketball (labelled with their name on it).
Grade 4-6: Size 27.5 ( size 5)
Grade 7/8.: Size 28.5 (size 6) ( including high school girls)
Grades 9 and up boys: NBA Size 29.5. (Size 7) - Please wear indoor running shoes or basketball shoes and proper athletic attire.
- All campers MUST also pack a water bottle (labelled with their name on it), small towel, extra socks and an extra t-shirt.
- Lunch and snacks are not provided – campers must bring a NUT-FREE lunch and NUT-FREE snacks each day.
- No extended before or after care hours.
- Program starts at 9:00am sharp and ends at 3:20pm.
- Participates can arrive no earlier than 8:30am (supervision start time) and must be picked up no later than 3:30pm SHARP (no exceptions).
- Participants must commit to the entire 4-day camp week (no pro-rated days, no half days).

Coach Raoul Baumgartner
- President and one of 3 founding Partners of York South Silver Knights Basketball Club (YSSK).
- Retired Educator, with an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree, Bachelor of Education Degree, and Masters Degree in Language and Learning Disabilities.
- Coached basketball at both the elementary school level and at the Rep Competitive Team level for 35+ years, winning 5 Board Championships and 10+ Area Championships for the YCDSB, plus placed 2nd in the Intermediate (grade 7/8) GTA Championships.
- Successfully coached players who later obtained NCAA Division #1 Scholarships in the USA, and players who later played on the Canadian Jr. National Team and the Sr. National Team.
- Level 3 NCCP Certified Technical Basketball Instructor with Ethics qualifications.
- Mentored/facilitated YSSK camp counselors who later took on such roles as High Profile Elite Basketball Coaches or York Region Officials.
- Father of two children, Ross and Bianca. Ross is currently at U of Ottawa pursuing Computer Engineering. He played 7 years of Rep Basketball with YSSK, and was a House League Coach. Bianca is currently attending the Athletic High School, Bill Crothers. She is a shooting guard for her Silver Knights Rep Competitive Team.
- Personal Philosophy: Always attempting to make a difference in every basketball player, and teach them all life-long lessons that go well beyond the game itself.

Coach Joshua Mootoo
- Guru Elite Trainer, working for 905 Raptors.
- Joshua has worked in his training career with both Coach Nick Nurse and NBA Pro Player Jeremy Lin.
- Joshua utilizes his plethora of 4 years of competing at the United States NCAA competitive level, to become an agent of change as his students of the game reach to actualize their fine potential and goals.
- Very recently has instructed at the North American PGC Shooting Camp for grades 7-11 held at the Trio Skillz in Woodbridge Ontario. Has also worked PGC ‘s Playmaker College for grades 7-11.
- Prides himself on being a scientific analytical technical instructor able to readily apply “Error Detection, Error Correction”.
- Former Silver Knights Player, has attended our Elite Camps with Tom Oliveri, former head coach of The York Lions Men’s Basketball.
- Joshua’s Big End Goal: “The effective utilization of building “relationship” with his hoopsters, together with utilizing Basketball as a conduit, a bridge, to “mountain climber” further develop both character and personal life long lessons and hence growth”.
Refund/Cancellation Policy: Winter Camps
- Refunds/Cancellations will only be accepted if notified in writing to the Registrar by e-mail (ysskprograms@silverknightsbasketball.com) one week prior to the Winter Camp’s start date.
- For example, a written cancellation notice is due on or before Tuesday December 26, 2023 to cancel the 4-Day Winter Camp.
- NO REFUNDS will be given starting the day after the above-mentioned date. No exceptions!
- No verbal communication of cancellation will be accepted.
- All refund requests are subject to a $50 administration cost.
- Dishonoured payments will incur a $40 service charge.
